In April 2018, Kindness In A Box partnered with Nurses 2 Peru to bring 25 nurses and medical professionals to the District of Maras with the goal of providing medical care to the Quechua children and families. The first day of the project was spent touring the Maras Hospital, meeting Dr. Victor, the medical staff and assessing the needs of the villages of Maras. Lynda Burgman, Founder & Executive Director of Kindness In A Box, Kathleen Thimsen, Assistant Professor of Nursing @ BJC, 25 nurses and medical professionals visited four village schools: Anccoto, Mahuay Pampa, Chequerec, Cruspata, and Mullacas. At each school the nurses provided medical care for the students, teachers, parents and other villagers. A total of 570 children and adults received medical care through this project. At the completion, all medical data, medicines, supplies and equipment were left with Dr. Victor at the Maras Hospital. This 2018 Kindness In A Box / Nurses 2 Peru Medical Project will be the first in a series of annual events that will provide medical care to the indigenous Quechua children and their families in Maras, Peru.
