Thanks to the Dorothea Haus Ross Foundation who supported the construction of the Kindness Center in Mullacas
Two KIAB Kindness Centers serve approx. 800 families in the villages of Kacllaraccay and Mullacas. The Kindness Center of Mullacas is located in one of the poorest villages in the district. The center has a full time pre-school for the children, a room for meetings and trainings. The KIAB School Lunch Program is held in the center one day a week during the school year and feeds about 50 children. The Kindness Center in Mullacas was constructed with the help of a grant from the Dorothea Haus Ross Foundation.
The Kindness Center located in Kacllaraccay was built with the cooperation of the Mayor of Maras who provided trucks, engineering assistance, concrete and paint for the center. The people of Kacllaraccay made over 3,000 adobes (bricks) for the construction of the walls and hauled the rocks from the mountains for the foundation. Kindness In A Box assisted with professional construction workers, on-site project manager, materials, equipment and supplies. The center is furnished with tables and chairs and is used for the once a week KIAB School Lunch Program which feeds over 100 children each week. The KIAB Teen Program meets every week at the center and 50 or more teenagers come from all over Maras to have fun and fellowship. Thanks to a donation from the Lego Company, the teens build with Legos every Thursday and creativity knows no boundaries.
The new KIAB Greenhouse is located behind the Kindness Center in the Village of Kacllaraccay and provides organic vegetables for the KIAB School Lunch Program and families in the village.
